Colin Godber - Don Quijote de la Mancha

“I am a maker of English, carved wooden marionettes. I also use bone, glass, leather, and sometimes unprocessed wool for hair. Where possible I avoid sewn clothing, preferring to relief carve. Marionettes are generally nine-string, sometimes additionally with an attachment for rod control. Each hand carved, fully articulated, painted marionette, with hinged brass joints, pins and a controller takes many hours to complete. I make three or four marionettes each year.”
